Couldn't the earth be round under DET, you have two hemispheres that are perfectly spherical and a gap between them for the sun light to come out of. I see no reason from the assumptions of the theory that this couldn't be the case.
You could even have space travel and NASA being real. The space distorting properties of aether could mean the the aether pocket inside the planet is large enough to contain a moon and planets of the mainstream size. When a rocket takes of towards the moon it would follow the reverse of the path it's light takes to get to the earth, hence it's path of travel would take it inside of the earth towards the moon.

Further, the problem with matter travelling to/from the center of the Earth, via altitude, is that the current is constantly moving. Anything that tries would be torn apart by the variation.

I read the FQA again. The flow of aether downwards wouldn't be strong enough to push the dust into a disk against gravity. The flow of aether to a place must be equal to flow leaving, otherwise the concentration would change.
So if the inwards flow is strong enough to flatten the dust, the outwards flow would be strong enough to pull away the dust at the edge of the disk, tearing away the earth.
It would make more sense if the aethers flow had a very weak pull on dust, so overtime it slowly pulls the dust into the pocket of low concentration, after a long time there is enough dust to make the planet.
Since the dust is no longer being flattened, only gravity would be left to have a significant effect on the planets shape. And as the aether is the same as the aether from relativity, gravity would exist.

The flow of aether is constant within each whirlpool. It varies between whirlpools, clearly.
The dust itself isn't being flattened, the shape of the concentration is. For obvious reasons, the dust takes on the shape of this concentration (as that is what it's being 'pushed' towards) but all that varies is the shape of the concentration. I'm not sure why you brought up gravity.
